In the first reading (post published August 3, 2017), Dr. Ehrman explains how and why the view by some Jews of what happens to people when they die changed within Judaism during the couple of centuries leading up to the birth of Jesus. In the second reading (post published August 5, 2015), Dr. Ehrman provides some background of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians, before examining in a subsequent post one of his favorite textual variants that exists in this letter.
